New to BSL? Your questions answered
Do I need any BSL experience?
Our crash course introduces the basics and is designed for beginners. For Level 1 or a higher level, contact us if you are unsure which course suits your experience.
What will I learn on a crash course?
You will explore fingerspelling, greetings, numbers and everyday signs, with practice in simple conversations.
Which certificate will I receive?
The crash course provides a BSL Search completion certificate. Our qualification courses lead to Signature qualifications. Check your chosen course and ask us about assessments before enrolling.
What happens after I enrol?
After successful enrolment, we email you a payment link. Check your inbox and junk folder: the link expires after 24 hours. After payment, we send confirmation with your course date, time and location.
Can I ask about access needs before booking?
Yes. Contact us with your questions or access needs before enrolling so we can discuss the course with you.
Choosing a BSL course
A crash course introduces everyday signs and fingerspelling and can be a starting point if you are new to BSL. If you are looking for a longer programme, compare the level, duration and schedule of the courses listed above. Contact us before enrolling if you are unsure which level suits your experience.
What to check before enrolling
Review the location, start and end dates, weekly class time and total price for your chosen course. Check that you can attend the sessions, and ask us about entry requirements, assessments or access needs before booking. Course availability changes, so use the current listings to see which options are open for enrolment.
Practise between lessons
Regular practice can help you remember the signs you learn in class. Try our BSL vocabulary and fingerspelling games alongside your lessons, and revisit topics you find difficult. Games support your practice; ask your tutor for feedback on your own signing.
