British Sign Language (BSL) Grammar
British Sign Language (BSL) has its own grammar and structure, which is different from English.
It is a visual language that uses hand movements, facial expressions, and body language to communicate meaning.
Key Rules:
Time comes first in the sentence (e.g., TODAY I WORK).
BSL often uses a Topic–Comment structure (e.g., COFFEE I LIKE).
Small English words like am, is, are, the, and to are not used.
Facial expressions are part of the grammar, especially for questions and emotions.
Negatives usually come at the end (e.g., I LIKE NOT).
Space is used visually to show people, direction, and relationships.
Fingerspelling is used for names and words without a sign.
BSL is a complete and independent language with its own rules and structure.
